According to the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), when lead is used in the soldering process, lead oxide fumes are released. Excessive inhalation of these fumes can result in lead poisoning, impaired fertility and damage to the blood and neurological systems.

The Mueller Solder Station decreases direct inhalation of these harmful fumesby extracting the smoke from a close proximity to the solder joint into the unit and through a filter.
